Marjorie Prime starts its run this evening at the Olney Theatre Center.

At 85 years old, Marjorie is spending time looking back on her long life. She discusses these memories with the help of Walter Prime, a hologram of her deceased as he looked 50 years ago. In the process, the two reinvent memories from the past in a tender and provocative journey.

Jordan Harrison wrote the play, which is directed by Olney Theatre Center’s artistic director Jason Loewith. The cast stars Kathleen Butler, who plays the title character.

"When you read a play that grabs you with quiet intensity on page one and refuses to let go until the curtain falls, you know you've found something extraordinary," said Loewith. "As a director and producer I seek out plays that take me on a thrilling adventure of the mind, and Jordan's play does exactly that. I can't wait to hear what our audience thinks about it."

The creative team includes Misha Kachman (set and props design), Ivania Stack (costume design), Colin K. Bills (lighting design), Robert Kaplowitz (sound design), and Becky Reed (stage manager).

Performances will run through April 10.
