Stage and screen star Mos Def is among the headliners for a benefit concert that will support relief efforts for those affected by the recent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, according to an Associated Press report. The event will take place on May 16 at Mardi Gras World River City in New Orleans.

Other artists who are scheduled to perform include Lenny Kravitz, Ani DiFranco, Allen Toussaint, Zachary Richard, Jeremy Davenport and The Voice of the Wetlands Allstars, which features Dr. John and Cyril Neville.

Mos Def starred in Suzan-Lori Parks’ Topdog/Underdog and F***ing A. His many film and television credits include House, Cadillac Records, Be Kind Rewind, 16 Blocks, Something the Lord Made, Monster’s Ball, and Lackawanna Blues.

Proceeds will benefit fishermen and their families, whose livelihoods depend on the Gulf, as well as organizations that protect Louisiana’s coast.
