Nominations for the 2008/2009 Ovation Awards, honoring the best in Los Angeles-area theater, have been announced.

The Centre Theatre Group's pre-Broadway production of the musical 9 to 5 received seven nominations, including for Dolly Parton and Patricia Resnick for book/lyrics/music, actors Allison Janney and Megan Hilty, costume designer William Ivey Long, scenic designer Scott Pask, and sound designer John H. Shivers.

Other productions with multiple nominations include El Portal Theatre's Smokey Joe's Café (10), Theatre Tribe's A Skull in Connemara (7), Center Theatre Group's The Little Dog Laughed (6), and Ebony Repertory Theatre's Two Trains Running (6).

Notable acting nominees also include Jake Broder (Louis & Keely, Live at the Sahara), Hershey Felder (Beethoven As I Knew Him), Betty Garrett (Waiting in the Wings), Dee Hoty (Stormy Weather), Christopher Fitzgerald (Minsky's), Eric Kunze (Jesus Christ Superstar), Beth Leavel (Minsky's), DeLee Lively (Smokey Joe's Café), Laurie Metcalf (Voice Lessons), Chris Pine (Farragut North), Roger Robinson (Two Trains Running), Vanessa Claire Smith (Louis & Keely, Live at the Sahara), Leslie Uggams (Stormy Weather), Julie White (The Little Dog Laughed), and Lillias White (The Best Is Yet to Come: The Music of Cy Coleman).
