Marissa Jaret Winokur and Ricki Lake will revisit the streets of Baltimore.
According to People, veteran Tracy Turnblads Ricki Lake and Marissa Jaret Winokur will have cameo appearances in NBC's upcoming Hairspray Live! broadcast on December 7.
Lake played the role in the 1988 John Waters film while Winokur originated the role on Broadway, earning her a Tony Award for her performance. In the report by People, Harvey Fierstein (who pens the teleplay and reprises his performance as Tracy's mother Edna) notes the scene in which audiences can expect to see the ladies: "They're going to be assisting when we get our big makeovers from Mr. Pinky," he said, referring to the number "Welcome to the '60s," during which Tracy drags a home-bound Edna to get a makeover from the plus-size fashion boutique owner Mr. Pinky (played by Sean Hayes).
Directed by Kenny Leon with Alex Rudzinski (Grease Live) directing for television, the live telecast is produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron with Jerry Mitchell reprising his Broadway choreography.
Newcomer Maddie Baillio leads the cast in the role of Tracy Turnblad, along with Garrett Clayton (Link Larkin), Ariana Grande (Penny Pingleton), Dove Cameron (Amber Von Tussle), Jennifer Hudson (Motormouth Maybelle), Martin Short (Wilbur Turnblad), Derek Hough (Corny Collins), Kristin Chenoweth (Velma Von Tussle), Sean Hayes (Mr. Pinky), Andrea Martin (Prudy Pingleton), and Rosie O'Donnell (Gym Teacher).
