Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays to Play L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center’s Renberg Theatre

Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays, conceived and directed by Brian Shnipper, will move to The Renberg Theatre, in the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center’s Village at Ed Gould Plaza for a series of Monday night performances, April 25-June 27, with an opening night set for May 9.

This evening of new plays was created to raise money and awareness in support of marriage equality. It includes works by playwrights Jordan Harrison, Jeffrey Hatcher, Moisés Kaufman, Joe Keenan, Neil LaBute, Wendy McLeod, José Rivera, Paul Rudnick and Doug Wright. A different celebrity ensemble will be announced for each of the performances.

Standing on Ceremony originally premiered as a one-time benefit performance at L.A.’s El Portal in 2009, and played numerous shows at Largo at the Coronet Theatre, the last of which was held on March 28.

This new run of the show is presented by Joan Stein and Stuart Ross in association with the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center. A portion of all proceeds from Standing On Ceremony will be earmarked to support the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center’s Vote for Equality program.
