Tony winner Casey Nicholaw is set to direct a film adaptation of the Broadway musical Spamalot, according to Deadline. The movie will be written and produced by Monty Python's Eric Idle.

Monty Python's Spamalot opened on Broadway at the Shubert Theatre in 2005. "Lovingly ripped off" from the 1975 comedy film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the original cast featured Tim Curry, David Hyde Pierce, Hank Azaria, Christopher Sieber, Christian Borle, and Sara Ramirez.

Casey Nicholaw is currently nominated for a Tony for Best Direction of a Musical for the current Broadway musical adaptation of Tina Fey's Mean Girls, and his upcoming projects include Broadway's The Prom. Nicholaw's other credits include Aladdin, Something Rotten!, and more. He choreographed the Broadway production of Spamalot, which was directed by Mike Nichols.
