Richard Chamberlain, Julia Duffy, Heather Tom Set for Pasadena Playhouse’s The Heiress

Pasadena Playhouse has announced casting for The Heiress, to run April 24-May 20, with an opening on April 29. Dámaso Rodriguez will direct.

Adapted from the Henry James novel Washington Square, this play by Ruth and Augustus Goetz centers on a plain-looking young woman who stands to inherit a fortune from her ailing physician father, who disapproves of her passionate suitor.

The cast will be led by Richard Chamberlain as Dr. Austin Sloper, Heather Tom as his daughter Catherine Sloper, and Julia Duffy as Dr. Sloper’s sister, Lavinia Penniman. The cast will also feature Gigi Bermingham (Elizabeth Almond), Steve Coombs (Morris Townsend), Chris Reinacher (Arthur Townsend), Elizabeth Tobias (Maria), Anneiliese van der Pol (Marian Almond), and Jill Van Velzer (Mrs. Montgomery).

The production will feature scenic design by John Iacovelli, costume design by Leah Piehl, lighting design by Brian Gale, and sound design by Doug Newell.
