Phylicia Rashad to Direct Ebony Repertory’s A Raisin in the Sun

Tony Award winner Phylicia Rashad will direct Los Angeles’ Ebony Repertory Theatre’s production of Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun, to run March 23-April 17 at the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center. Casting and creative team will be announced shortly.

Rashad received the Tony for her portrayal of Lena Younger in the 2004 Broadway revival of the play, and recreated the role for the television film, for which she received an Emmy Award nomination. She will be seen next month in Arena Stage’s production of every tongue confess, and her many other stage credits include August Osage County, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Gem of the Ocean, Jelly’s Last Jam, Into the Woods and, Dreamgirls.

The actress will star in the soon-to-be-released film For Colored Girls, and is well known for her work on television’s The Cosby Show and Cosby.
