Oscar winner Marlee Matlin attended the opening night performance of Cyrano by Stephen Sachs, a co-production between The Fountain Theatre and Deaf West Theatre, which performs at The Fountain Theatre through June 10.

The work is a re-imagined signed and spoken version of Cyrano de Bergerac, which focuses on Cyrano, a brilliant deaf poet, who is hopelessly in love with Roxy, a beautiful hearing woman.

Simon Levy directs the production, which features Troy Kotsur (Cyrano), Erinn Anova (Roxy), and Paul Raci (Chris), along with Daniel Durant, Eddie Buck, Maleni Chaitoo, Ipek D. Mehlum, Bob Hiltermann, Al Bernstein, James Babbin, James Royce Edwards, Victor Warren, and Martica De Cardenas.

Matlin won the Oscar for her performance in Children of a Lesser God. She is a longtime supporter and patron of Deaf West, and starred in the CBS television movie version of Sachs’ 1997 play Sweet Nothing in my Ear, which also premiered at the Fountain.
