Ed Begley, Jr., George Chakiris, Ken Davitian, Cher, Tippi Hedren, Stella Stevens, Billy Bob Thornton, and Lily Tomlin were among the celebrities in attendance at the premiere of the documentary Elephants and Man: A Litany of Tragedy, which was shown as part of the screening series “Kat Kramer’s Films That Change the World,” at Sunset Gower Studios in Hollywood on January 20.

Actress Kat Kramer founded the series in 2009 to highlight motion pictures that raise awareness of important social issues. Her father, the late producer/director Stanley Kramer, was known for making socially conscious movies.

The Elephants documentary, directed by Jacek Kropinski, displays the physical and emotional agony elephants have endured in captivity through the centuries. The event included a panel discussion with Hedren, Kramer, Tomlin, and additional participants.
