Martin Short to Join Cast of How I Met Your Mother

Broadway veteran Martin Short will join the cast of the CBS sit-com How I Met Your Mother next season, according to TVGuide.com. He will be playing the new boss of the character Marshall Eriksen (played by Jason Segel).
Short was last seen on Broadway in Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me, with other Main Stem appearances including the musicals The Goodbye Girl and Little Me. He may be best known for his work on Saturday Night Live, where he created such characters as Ed Grimly, Jackie Rogers Jr., and lawyer Nathan Thurm.
In addition to Segel, the principal cast of How I Met Your Mother includes Broadway star and Emmy Award winner Neil Patrick Harris, along with Alyson Hannigan, Josh Radnor, and Cobey Smulders.
