Laguna Playhouse has announced selections for its 2009-2010 season, which will kick off with My Way: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra (July 7-August 23), conceived by David Grapes and Todd Olson, with a book by Olson and direction by Grapes. The musical revue celebrates the pivotal moments of Sinatra’s life, beginning in the 1940s as a big band crooner, continuing on to the bright lights of Las Vegas with the Rat Pack in the 1960s, and to his final performances in the 1990s as “The Chairman of the Board.”

Next up will be Andrew Barnicle’s production of Ron Hutchinson’s Moonlight and Magnolias (October 6-November 1), a comic look at the rewriting of the script to the movie Gone with the Wind. This is a co-production with McCoy Rigby Entertainment & La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts. Written and directed by Roger Bean, Winter Wonderettes will follow, presenting a seasonal sequel to The Marvelous Wonderettes, and featuring Wonderette renditions of ’60s holiday tunes.

Hershey Felder will star in George Gershwin Alone (January 12-February 7), an intimate portrait of legendary composer George Gershwin, directed by Joel Zwick. A fifth production will be announced at a later date.
