Casting has been announced for Musical Theatre West’s production of the Mel Brooks musical The Producers, to play January 30-February 15. Steven Glaudini will direct, with musical direction by Daniel Thomas and choreography by Matthew J. Vargo (recreating the work by original director/choreographer Susan Stroman).

Featuring a book by Brooks and Thomas Meehan, based on Brooks’ cult classic film, the plot involves scheming theatrical producer Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom, his mousy CPA. The pair hit upon the perfect plan to embezzle a fortune: raise far more money than you need to produce a sure-fire Broadway flop and then Max and Leo can pocket the difference.

Michael Kostroff and Larry Raben will star respectively as Max and Leo — roles they have previously played on tour, Broadway, or in Las Vegas. The principal cast will also include David Engel as Roger DeBris, Sarah Cornell as Ulla, Michael Paternostro as Carmen Ghia, and Nick Santa Maria as Franz Liebkind.
