Kate Whoriskey, who directed the original Chicago and New York productions of Lynn Nottage’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play Ruined, will once again direct the play as the first production in the Geffen Playhouse’s 2010-2011 season. Exact dates, cast, and creative team will be announced at a later date.

Ruined focuses on Mama Nadi, a shrewd businesswoman living in a small mining town in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Whoriskey’s new staging of the play will be co-produced by Seattle’s Intiman Theatre, where it will run July 2 – August 8, 2010. The production will also travel to South Africa, where it will be produced at the Market Theatre.
