Julie White Cast in the ABC Comedy Pilot Smothered

Tony Award winner Julie White has joined the cast of the ABC comedy pilot Smothered, according to a report on Deadline.com. The show has been created by Andrew Reich and Ted Cohen.

Smothered will focus on a young couple who find themselves smothered by their two very different sets of parents. White is scheduled to play the woman’s scrappy mom. The show will also feature Kyle Howard.

White won a Tony Award for her performance in The Little Dog Laughed. Among her other credits are Bad Dates, Spike Heels, The Understudy, and From Up Here. In addition, she has appeared in the Transformers movies and has played recurring roles on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Caveman.
