Glenn Close, Viola Davis, Jessica Lange, Meryl Streep, et al. Among SAG Award Nominees

Nominations have been announced for the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, which will be handed out January 29 in Los Angeles and aired live on TNT and TBS.


Stage veterans nominated for their film work include Kathy Bates (Midnight in Paris), Demian Bechir A Better Life), Kenneth Branagh (My Week With Mariilyn), Beau Bridges (The Descendants), Jessica Chastain (The Help), Jill Clayburgh (Bridesmaids), Glenn Close (Albert Nobbs), Viola Davis (The Help), John Goodman (The Artist), Judy Greer (The Descendants), Bryce Dallas Howard (The Help), Allison Janney (The Help), Janet McTeer (Albert Nobbs), Penelope Ann Miller (The Artist), Octavia Spencer (The Help), Christopher Plummer (The Beginners), Michael Sheen (Midnight in Paris), Meryl Streep (The Iron Lady), Cicely Tyson (The Help), and Michelle Williams (My Week With Marilyn).


Stage performers nominated for their work in primetime television include Alec Baldwin (30 Rock), Kathy Bates (Harry’s Law), Ty Burrell (Modern Family), Glenn Close Damages), Jon Cryer (Two and Half Men), Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie), Laurence Fishburne (Thurgood), Paul Giamatti (Too Big to Fail), Michael C. Hall (Dexter), Diane Lane (Cinema Verite), Jessica Lange (American Horror Story), Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife), Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer), Maggie Smith (Dowtown Abbey), and Sofia Vergara (Modern Family).


As previously announced, Mary Tyler Moore will receive the group’s Lifetime Achievement Award, which will be presented by Dick Van Dyke.
