Glee‘s Heather Morris, Queer as Folk‘s Scott Lowell, Broadway’s Jenna Leigh Green, et al. Set for Blank Theatre’s Young Playwrights Festival

The Blank Theatre Company has announced casting for its Nationwide Young Playwrights Festival, to run June 3-27 at The Stella Adler Theatre. Twelve new plays, written by teenage playwrights from six different states, will be presented, featuring professional actors and staged by professional directors.

During the first week of the Festival, Larry Poindexter, Tony Todd, and Jessy Schram will be featured in plays by Kate Herzlin, Benjamin Sprung-Keyser, and Aliza Goldstein.

Scottt Lowell, who starred on TV’s Queer as Folk, along with Jennifer Stone, Constance Zimmer, Lenny Jacobson, Michael J. Willett, and Deborah Van Valkenburgh are set to perform during the second week in works by Marissa Bohrer, Michael Trottier, and Emma Steinkllner.

Heather Morris, who plays Brittany on FOX’s Glee, along with Michael Welch and Broadway veteran Jenna Leigh Green will be featured in works by Danny Barry, May Trenhaft Ali, and Ellen Bryon during the third week; while in the final week of the festival, Elaine Hendrix, Mackenzie Aladjem, and Todd Grinnell will be seen in plays by Erik Mattos, Elyse Pitock, and Chase Yenser.

The winning plays have been chosen by a panel of theater professionals from submissions by teenagers from across the nation.
