Lin-Manuel Miranda, Sara Bareilles, and More Theater Folk Nab 2018 Emmy Nominations

The 2018 Emmy Award nominees were announced this morning in a ceremony hosted by Ryan Eggold and Samira Wiley (who herself was nominated for her performance in The Handmaid's Tale).
NBC's Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert received 13 nominations, including ones for stars John Legend, Sara Bareilles (Waitress), and Brandon Victor Dixon (Hamilton), and another for Tony-winning Hamilton costume designer Paul Tazewell. Also among the nominees was Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, In the Heights), nominated for his guest-starring stint in the most recent season of HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm. And Dear Evan Hansen's Benj Pasek and Justin Paul were nominated for their song "In the Market for a Miracle" from A Christmas Story Live!
Other stage stars scoring nominations include Tony winner Cherry Jones (The Handmaid's Tale), Tony winner Lily Tomlin (Grace and Frankie), Tony winner Laurie Metcalf (Roseanne), Tony winner Judith Light (The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story), two-time Tony winner Viola Davis (Scandal), Tony winner Tony Shalhoub (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Tony winner Bryan Cranston (Curb Your Enthusiasm), and Tony winner Kelli O'Hara (The Accidental Wolf).
Other 2018 Emmy nominees who have previously graced Broadway stages include Sarah Paulson, Megan Mullally, Brian Tyree Henry, John Leguizamo, Diana Rigg, F. Murray Abraham, Tatiana Maslany, Jeff Daniels, Darren Criss, and Elisabeth Moss.
Tony-winning set designer Derek McLane was also nominated for his design of the 90th annual Oscars, his fifth consecutive nomination for the awards show.
