Ellyn Stern, Alexander Wells to Star in Classic Theatre Lab’s Exit the King

Classical Theatre Lab and the City of West Hollywood will present the West Coast premiere of Neil Armfield’s and Geoffrey Rush’s translation of Exit the King the tragicomedy written by Eugene Ionesco. Michael Matthys will direct the production at Fiesta Hall in Plummer Park, February 25 – April 1.

Exit the King tells the story of King Berenger the First, who was rumored to be more than 400 years old and at one time was able to command nature and force others to obey his will. In the play, he has just been told that he is dying and his kingdom is crumbling around him. In deep denial, he refuses to relinquish the throne.

The cast will feature Alexander Wells (The King), Ellyn Stern (Queen Marguerite), Gina Manziello (Queen Marie), Joe Hulser (The Doctor), Amy Handelman (Juliette), and Joseph Beck (The Guard).

The creative team will include Susan Deeley Wells (set design), Jeffrey Porter (lighting design), Bill Froggatt (sound designer), and Doug Spesert (costume design).
