Christian Bale and Steve Carell in a Cut Musical Number From Vice

”Hamilton”’s Andy Blankenbuehler contributed choreography to this deleted sequence.

Vice, the political thriller of this past Oscars season, has released a special treat for the musical-theater fans of America. As it turns out, a full musical number — serving as the backdrop for a conversation between Donald Dumsfeld (Steve Carell) and Dick Cheney (Christian Bale) — was cut from the final version. The scene, directed by Adam McKay, featured music by Nicholas Britell (sung by Brittany Howard), and choreography by three-time Tony winner Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton).

Bale did not break out his famous Newsies vocals for the sequence, but there are still plenty of theatrics to go around. Take a look at the cut scene below and start campaigning for Vice The Musical — Broadway 2020.
