American Idiot, Bring It On, Fela!, Funny Girl, War Horse Set for Ahmanson Theatre’s 2011-2012 Season

The complete schedule has been announced for the Ahmanson Theatre‘s 2011-2012 season, which will begin, as previously announced with Bring It On: The Musical, to run October 30 – December 10. Andy Blankenbuehler will direct this show about the world of competitive cheerleading that’s been created by Jeff Whitty, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tom Kitt, and Amanda Green.

Also on the theater’s schedule is a revival of Funny Girl, the musical biography of Ziegfeld Follies star Fanny Brice, which will run January 15 – February 26. Bartlett Sher will direct the show, which has music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Bob Merrill, and a book by Isobel Lennart.

In addition, the Ahmanson will present the Green Day musical American Idiot (March 13 – April 22), Bill T. Jones’ look at the life and music of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti Fela! (April 25 – June 3), and Nick Stafford’s adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s War Horse (June 13 – July 22).
