Alice Ripley and Brian d’Arcy James will play their final performance in the Broadway production of Next to Normal, at the Booth Theatre, on July 18.

Ripley will then reprise her Tony Award-winning role for the musical’s entire 36-week multi-city North American tour, launching November 23 with a six-week engagement at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, followed by confirmed engagements in San Diego, Seattle, Des Moines, Providence, Hartford, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, St. Paul, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Charlotte, and Washington, DC, with more cities to be announced in the near future.

The musical, written by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey and directed by Michael Greif, addresses issues of mental illness and a suburban family’s efforts to cope with loss. It was recently awarded the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and also received three Tony Awards.

In addition to Ripley and James, the Broadway production features Kyle Dean Massey, Jennifer Damiano, Adam Chanler-Berat, and Louis Hobson. Additional casting for the tour will be announced at a later date.
