Alfred Walker, Marquita Lister to Star in Hollywood Bowl’s Porgy and Bess

Bramwell Tovey will lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Pacific Chorale in a concert production of Porgy and Bess, July 19 at 7:30pm, starring Alfred Walker and Marquita Lister in the title roles.

Gershwin’s classic American opera is a story of love and loss set in the fictional community of Catfish Row, a seaside tenement near Charleston, SC. The score includes such classic songs as “Summertime” and “It Ain’t Necessarily So.”

The cast will also feature Gregg Baker as Crown, Lisa Daltirus as Serena, Nicole Cabell as Clara, Gwendolyn Brown as Maria, Leon Williams as Jake, Jermaine Smith as Sporting Life, Calvin Lee as Mingo/Nelson/Crab Man, DeReau K. Farrar as Frazier, Ashley Faatoalia as Peter, Leberta Loral as Annie, Helen Goldsby Qahhar as Lily/Strawberry Woman, Wilkie Ferguson as Jim/Undertaker/Scipio, William Dennis Hunt as Detective, David Paterson as Policeman, and Matthew Elkinsas as Coroner/Archdale.
