Tony Award winner Adam Guettel's Floyd Collins, as well as a cabaret series, have been added to the 2009-2010 season at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts.

Guettel's musical, with book by Tina Landau, draws upon the real-life story of a man, who dreaming of achieving fame and fortune, finds himself trapped in a narrow cave 200 feet underground. Richard Israel will direct the production which is scheduled for July 2010.

The theater's Upright Cabaret series will begin on November 8 with City of Angels, which will pay tribute to Joni Mitchell, Doris Day and Brian Wilson. Other installments in the series will include New York State of Mind (February 7), a tribute to Robert Goulet, Billie Holliday, and Bob Dylan; Motor City (April 18), which will honor Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and Michael Jackson; The Mighty Mississippi (June 6), an homage to Louis Armstrong, Elvis Presley, and Prince; and Country Roads (July 11), which will feature the music of Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, and Johnny Cash.

As previously announced, the 2009-2010 season at the theater includes Robert Harling's Steel Magnolias (continuing through October 18), starring Michael Learned and Cathy Rigby; Ron Hutchinson's Moonlight and Magnolias (November 6-22), directed by Andy Barnicle; The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (February 5-21), with direction by Jeff Maynard; the Alan James-Rob Bettinson musical, Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story (April 16-May 2); Donald Margulies' Dinner with Friends (June 4-20); and Let's Salute America!
