The 2017 Emmy Awards were presented on September 17 in a ceremony hosted by Stephen Colbert.

This year's list of winners featured a host of theater veterans, including Sterling K. Brown for his performance as Randall Pearson in This Is Us (Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series), Elisabeth Moss for her work as Offred in The Handmaid's Tale (Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series), and John Lithgow for his performance as Winston Churchill in The Crown (Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series).

Additional winners with Broadway credits include Alec Baldwin for his work on Saturday Night Live (Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series), Ann Dowd for her performance as Aunt Lydia in The Handmaid's Tale (Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series), and Nicole Kidman for her role as Celeste Wright in Big Little Lies (Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie).
