PHOTO FLASH: Darrell Hammond at Bay Street Theatre’s Spring Benefit

Darrell Hammond, who will star as Truman Capote in Bay Street Theatre’s upcoming production of the biodrama Tru (May 31-June 26), was the special guest at the company’s spring benefit, on Sunday, April 3.

The event celebrated the East End’s own Truman Capote, with activities including a “Breakfast at Tiffany’s brunch” with Hammond at The American Hotel, followed by a champagne toast, raffles, piano music back at Bay Street Theatre and a screening of Breakfast at Tiffany’s (which was based on the book written by Capote). There was also a contest for the best Audrey Hepburn costume, with Hammond posing with participants.

Hammond was the longest running cast member on Saturday Night Live, performing for over 14 years. His Broadway credits include The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and he has previously appeared at Bay Street in Beyond Therapy and Romance.
