Paul Stancato to Direct The Sound of Music at the John W. Engeman Theater

Paul Stancato will direct the John W. Engeman Theater’s production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music, to run November 18 – January 16. Vic DiMonda will provide the choreography and Mike Pettry will serve as musical director. Casting will be announced shortly.

The musical is based on the memoirs of Maria Von Trapp, which chronicle the formation of The Trapp Family Singers. The show includes such classic songs as “My Favorite Things,” “Do Re Mi,” “So Long, Farewell,” and “Climb Every Mountain.”

The creative team will include Jonathan W. Collins (scenic design), Janel Berté (costume design), and Christopher Ash (lighting design).

Stancato’s other credits include serving as resident director of the Broadway production and national tour of The Lion King. In addition he has directed and choreographed such productions as the Zombies from the Beyond, Rockshow, Heart Rising, and Einstein’s Dreams.
