Blythe Danner, Brooke Shields, Julie White to Star in Vagina Monologues at Guild Hall

Julie White will join the previously reported Blythe Danner and Brooke Shields in a benefit production of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues at John Drew Theater at Guild Hall in East Hampton on Saturday, April 23 at 8pm. Joe Mantello and Lisa Leguillou will direct.

The monologues, which were first performed Off-Broadway by Ms. Ensler, dive into the mystery, humor, pain, power, sexuality, wisdom, outrage and excitement buried in women’s experiences.

Danner is a celebrated actress in film, theatre and television, and has won two Emmys and one Tony Award. More recently, she has become known for her role opposite Robert Deniro in the comedy hit Meet the Parents, and its sequels.

Shields will be joining the Broadway cast of The Addams Family as Morticia beginning June 28. Her other Broadway credits include Grease, Chicago, Cabaret, and Wonderful Town. Her many film and television credits include The Blue Lagoon, Endless Love, Suddenly Susan, and Lipstick Jungle.

White won a Tony Award for her performance in The Little Dog Laughed. Among her other credits are Bad Dates, Spike Heels, The Understudy, and From Up Here. In addition, she has appeared in the Transformers movies and has played recurring roles on Six Feet Under, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Caveman.

Mantello is currently starring on Broadway in The Normal Heart. He is also currently represented on Broadway for his direction of the musical Wicked. He received Tony Awards for his direction of Assassins and Take Me Out, along with Tony nominations for helming Glengarry Glen Ross and Love! Valour! Compassion!, and for acting in Angels in America: Millennium Approaches.

Leguillou previously worked with Mantello on Wicked, Frankie and Johnny…, Take Me Out and The Vagina Monologues. She has also appeared in eight Broadway shows and on TV.

The production will benefit victims of domestic violence.
