The new Broadway production of David Hirson’s La Bête will play the Music Box Theatre, with previews beginning on September 23 and an official opening on October 14. The theater is currently home to Lend Me a Tenor, which is tentatively scheduled to close on August 15.

Matthew Warchus will direct the production, which will first run June 26-September 4 at the Comedy Theatre in London, with an official opening on July 7.

As previously announced, the production will star David Hyde Pierce (Elomire), Joanna Lumley (The Princess), Mark Rylance (Valere),.Stephen Ouimette (Bejart), Lisa Joyce (Marquise-Therese Du Parc), Greta Lee (Dorine), Robert Lonsdale (Rene Du Parc), Michael Milligan (De Brie), Liza Sadovy (Catherine De Brie), and Sally Wingert (Madeleine Bejart).

The play focuses on a high-minded classical dramatist who loves only the theater, and a low-brow street clown who loves only himself. When a fickle princess decides she’s grown weary of the royal theater troupe, a battle ensues between the two men, who are left fighting for survival as art squares off with ego in a literary showdown.

The production will feature production design by Mark Thompson, with lighting design by Hugh Vanstone, music by Claire van Kampen, and sound design by Simon Baker.
