Arthur Darvill, Paul Hilton, et al. Set for Doctor Faustus at Shakespeare’s Globe

Arthur Darvill will play Mephistofiles opposite the previously announced Paul Hilton in the title role of Christopher Marlowe’s Doctor Faustus, to run June 18 – October 10 at Shakespeare’s Globe as part of the company’s summer repertory season. Matthew Dunster will direct the production.

The drama revisits the legend of Faustus, who makes a deal with the devil in return for unlimited knowledge.

Darvill may be best known for playing Rory Williams on television’s Doctor Who. Among his stage credits are Terre Haute, Swimming with Sharks, and Stacy.

The company will also feature Charlotte Broom (Good Angel Sin/Alexander’s Paramour), Michael Camp (Duke/Frederick/ First Student), Nigel Cooke (Lucifer/Pope Adrian/Horse Courser), Richard Clews (Dick/First Scholar), Jonathon Cullen (Valdes/Pope Bruno/Carter), Robert Goodale (Raymond/Old Man/Cornelius), Sarita Piotrowski (Helen/Sin), Will Mannering (Benvolio/Second Scholar/Third Student), Pearce Quigley (Robin), Iris Roberts (Hostess/Sin), Beatriz Romilly (Bad Angel/Sin), Felix Scott (Wagner/Emperor Charles), Chinna Wodu (Beelzebub/Martino/Second Student), Jade Williams (Duchess/Sin).

Paul Wills will design the production, which will have original music by Jules Maxwell and puppet direction by Steve Tiplady.
