Owain Arthur to Star in One Man, Two Guvnors, Transferring to Theatre Royal Haymarket

Owain Arthur will star in the London production of One Man, Two Guvnors when the show transfers to Theatre Royal Haymarket, March 2-September 15, 2012. The show is currently playing the West End’s Adelphi Theatre through February 25. Nicholas Hytner directs the production.

Richard Bean’s award-wining adaptation of Carlo Goldoni’s The Servant of Two Masters centers on Francis Henshall (Arthur), who agrees to work for a local gangster as well as a criminal in hiding, both of whom are linked in a tangled web of schemes and romantic associations, which Francis cannot keep straight. Additional casting for the transfer will be announced in the near future.

The production features songs by Grant Olding, physical Comedy direction by Cal McCrystal, designs by Mark Thompson, lighting by Mark Henderson, sound design by Paul Arditti, fight direction by Kate Waters, and choreography by Adam Penford.

Arthur has been understudying the role of Francis Henshall as part of the West End Company, and has also been seen in Nicholas Hytner’s National Theatre production of The History Boys, as well as Romeo and Juliet for the Royal Shakespeare Company, The Comedy of Errors for the Royal Exchange Theatre and Birdsong at the Comedy Theatre.

As previously reported, a Broadway production of One Man, Two Guvnors will open at the Music Box Theatre in April 2012, with original star James Corden.
