The Tricycle Announces Inaugural Season of Artistic Director Indhu Rubasingham
The season will kick off with Red Velvet (October 11-November 24) by Lolita Chakrabarti, a new play based on the true story of actor Ira Aldridge, directed by Rubasingham and starring Olivier Award-winning actor Adrian Lester. The design team will include Tom Piper (set design), Oliver Fenwick (lighting design), and Paul Arditti (sound design). Next up will be Mary Zimmerman's The Arabian Nights (November 30-January 12), an adaptation of The Book Of The Thousand Nights and One Night directed by Lu Kemp. The design team will include Ben Stones (set design), Richard Howell (lighting design), Elena Pena (sound design), and Andrzej Goulding (projection design).
The Tricycle will ring in 2013 with an Eclipse Theatre production of Don Evans' One Monkey Don't Stop No Show (January 19-February 6), directed by Dawn Walton. To close the season, Rubasingham will direct the world premiere of Philip Himberg's adaptation of the documentary film by Tomer Heymann Paper Dolls (February 28-April 13), a true story exploring an unlikely collision of cultures.
