Simon Webbe to Join Sister Act in West End, Sheila Hancock Extends Through August

Simon Webbe will join the West End company of Sister Act, playing Curtis Shank, on May 31.

In addition, it has been announced that the show will conclude its engagement on January 1, 2011, and that Sheila Hancock will continue playing the Mother Superior in the production through August, alongside the production’s original stars, Patina Miller and Ian Lavender.

Webbe is a member of the boyband Blue. As a solo recording artist, he has released two albums, Sanctuary and Grace and is working on a third. He has also appeared on numerous television shows around the world, including a run on series eight of I’m A Celebrity… on ITV1. His film credits include The Truth About Love and Rolling With The Nines.

Sister Act, with a score by Alan Menken and a book Cheri and Bill Steinkellner, is directed by Peter Schneider and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast. The creative team includes Klara Zieglerova (scenic design), Lez Brotherston (costume design), Mick Potter (sound design) and Natasha Katz (lighting design).
