Samuel Barnett, Johnny Flynn, Samantha Spiro Join Casts of Shakespeare’s Globe Productions

Updated casting has been announced for Shakespeare’s Globe’s 2012 season, according to WhatsOnStage.com.

Two-time Olivier Award winner Samantha Sprio will star as Katherina in The Taming of the Shrew, to run in repertory June 23-October 13. Toby Frow will direct.

As previously reported, two-time Tony Award winner Mark Rylance will play the title role in Richard III and reprise his celebrated performance as Olivia in Twelfth Night. Samuel Barnett will join him in the former, playing the roles of Elizabeth and Sebastian, while Johnny Flynn has been newly announced for the latter, portraying Viola. Tim Carroll will direct both productions.

Also as previously announced, Jamie Parker will star in the title role of Henry V, to be directed by Dominic Dromgoole. The production will run June 7-August 26, and then embark upon a a six-venue UK tour.
