Due to a chest infection resulting in missed rehearsals, film star Patrick Swayze’s London stage debut in the Donmar Warehouse production of Guys and Dolls at the Piccadilly Theatre will occur two weeks later than originally planned. Swayze, who was to have played the role of Nathan Detroit from July 10 through September 2, will now begin performances on July 24 and continue through September 23.

Claire Sweeney will assume the role of Miss Adelaide on July 10, as scheduled. From July 10 through 22, Nathan Detroit will be played by Andrew Playfoot. Adam Cooper and Kelly Price continue in the roles of Sky Masterson and Sarah Brown.

Based on stories by Damon Runyon, Guys and Dolls features music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and a book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows. The current London production is directed by Michael Grandage and designed by Christopher Oram, with choreography by Rob Ashford, musical supervision by Jae Alexander, lighting by Howard Harrison, and sound by Terry Jardine and Chris Full.
