Harold Pinter's The Hothouse will play Trafalgar Studios beginning in May. The play is the next in a season called Trafalgar Transformed, an initiative between director Jamie Lloyd (Cyrano de Bergerac at Roundabout) and Howard Panter, following the Macbeth revival starring James McAvoy. The Hothouse will run from May 4 through August 3, with an opening May 9. As part of the Trafalgar Transformed season, all tickets will be £15 on Mondays.

The Hothouse is a black comedy set in a government-run mental institution, largely focusing on a murder plot. Simon Russell Beale (Timon of Athens) will play Roote and John Simm (Elling) will play Gibbs. Simon Russell Beale recently appeared in Privates on Parade at the Noel Coward Theatre, and his film credits include The Deep Blue Sea and My Week with Marilyn. John Simm's additional credits include Speaking In Tongues at the Duke of York's Theatre and Exile (for which he was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Actor 2012). Additional casting will be announced soon.

This is director Jamie Lloyd's third Pinter production (following The Caretaker and The Lover/The Collection). The production is designed by Soutra Gilmour.
