Jessica Martin, Stuart Matthew Price Join Southwark Playhouse’s Mack and Mabel

Casting is now complete for the London revival of the Jerry Herman/Michael Stewart
Hollywood musical, Mack and Mabel, to be presented at Southwark Playhouse, July 5-August 25. Thom Southerland will direct, with musical direction by Michael Bradley.

Mack and Mabel has a book by Michael Stewart and music and lyrics by Jerry Herman. The Southwark Playhouse production is revised by Francine Pascal and based on an idea by Leonard Spigelgass. The play follows the real-life romantic relationship between movie director Mack Sennett and stage screen Mabel Normand.

As previously reported, the show will star Norman Bowman as Mack and Laura Pitt-Pulford as Mabel. Jessica Martin — who starred as Mabel in the 1996 West End production of Mack and Mabel — will play Lottie Ames, while Stuart Matthew Price will co-star as Frank.

The company will also feature Richard J Hunt (Fatty Arbuckle), Jody Ellen Robinson (Ella), Steven Serlin (Mr Kessel), Peter Kenworthy (William Desmond Taylor), Anthony Wise (Eddie) and Jessica Buckby, Natalie Kent, Nikki Schofield, Ryan Gover, Paul Hutton, Jonathan Norman.

The design team will include Jason Denvir (set and costume design), Howard Hudson (lighting design), and Andrew Johnson (sound design). Choreography is by Lee Proud. Mack and Mabel is produced by Danielle Tarento in association with Southwark Playhouse.
