Ian McKellen to Star in Back at the Begrade Fundraiser

Ian McKellen will offer a one-night-only performance of Back at the Belgrade at the Belgrade Theatre on September 4, according to a report on Whatsonstage.com. The event will serve as a fundraiser for the theater.

In the show, which take place 50 years to the day after McKellen first appeared at the theater in a production of Robert Bolt’s A Man for All Seasons, the award-winning performer will share reminiscences about his early career and his work since then, including his successes in such films as X-Men and The Lord of the Rings.

McKellen is currently appearing in The Syndicate at Chichester Festival. He was most recently seen in New York in repertory productions of The Seagull and King Lear at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
