The Green Day musical American Idiot has added an additional week to its schedule at London’s HMV Hammersmith Apollo, and will now play the venue December 3-15.

As previously reported, the show will receive its UK premiere in Fall of 2012, featuring an “American tour cast.” The tour will kick off at Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre, October 9-13, and culminate with the London run.

The musical tells the story of three boyhood friends, each searching for meaning in a post 9-11 world. It features the music of Green Day with the lyrics of its lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong. The book is by Armstrong and Michael Mayer and direction is by Mayer.

Among the hit songs included are “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” “21 Guns,” “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” “Holiday” and the title track.

The production features choreography by Steven Hoggett; music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Tom Kitt; scenic design by Christine Jones and lighting design by Kevin Adams.
