Frances Barber, Jonathan Pryce, et al. Nominated for TMA Awards; Alfie Boe, Billy Boyd, Daniel Evans Among Presenters

Nominations for the Theatrical Management Association (TMA) Awards, celebrating the best of British theatre from around the United Kingdom, have been announced. The awards will be presented in a ceremony at the Lyric Hammersmith on Sunday, November 7. Craig Revel Horwood will host, and presenters will include opera star Alfie Boe, film star Billy Boyd, Olivier Award winner Daniel Evans, and ex-Royal Ballet principal Ivan Putrov.

Actors who have been nominated for awards include Ayesha Antoine (My Wonderful Day), Frances Barber (That Face), David Birrell (Sweeney Todd), Michelle Crook (Oklahoma!, Ray Fearon (A Raisin in the Sun), Alex Ferns (The Little Shop of Horrors), Louise Plowright (White Christmas the Musical), Jonathan Pryce (The Caretaker), Ryan Sampson (Brighton Beach Memoirs), Maggie Steed (Hay Fever), and the ensembles of Octagon Theatre Bolton’s The Hired Man and Northern Stage’s Oh What a Lovely War.

In the category of Best New Play are Gary Owen’s Mrs. Reynolds and the Ruffian, Anya Reiss’ Spur of the Moment, and Simon Stephens’ Punk Rock. Nominated for Best Musical Production are Dundee Rep Ensemble’s Sweeney Todd, Northern Stage’s Oh What a Lovely War, and Theatre Royal Stratford East’s Britain’s Got Bhangra.
