ENO and Punchdrunk to Produce Site-Specific Duchess of Malfi Opera in July

The English National Opera and Punchdrunk will co-produce the world premiere of Torsten Rasch’s opera The Duchess of Malfi in a site-specific production at Great Eastern Quay in London’s Royal Albert Basin, with performances beginning on July 13. Punchdrunk artistic director Felix Barrett will stage the piece, which will be conducted by Stephen Higgins.

Librettist Ian Burton has adapted John Webster’s Jacobean tragedy about love, incest and murder. The immersive production will unfold within over three floors of an office facility that has been made available by the Notting Hill Housing Trust.
