Antony Sher, who is currently starring in the London revival of Arthur Miller’s Broken Glass, will headline two upcoming West End productions for The National Theatre, according to a report WhatsOnStage.com.

In January 2012, he will appear at the Lyttleton in Nicholas Hytner’s production of Travelling Light, by Nicholas Wright. The play centers on the contributions of Eastern European emigrants to the dawn of Hollywood’s golden age. The production is also scheduled to tour to Salford, Leeds, Newcastle and Aylesbury.

In January 2012, Sher will play Wilhelm Voigt in Carl Zuckmayer’s classic satire The Captain Of Kopenick, about a shoemaker who poses as a Prussian officer in order to hold the mayor of a small town to ransom.

Sher has appeared twice on Broadway, in 1997’s Stanley, which earned him a Theater World Award and Tony Award nomination, and 2005’s Primo, which earned him the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Solo Performance.
