Alley’s An American in Paris Extends Through June 22

The new musical
The Gershwins’ An American in Paris at the Alley Theater, directed by Gregory Boyd, has extended until June 22.

The show features Jeffry Denman, Stephen DeRosa, Felicia Finley, Harry Groener, Alix Korey, Kerry O’ Malley, Meredith Patterson, Ron Orbach, Jeremy Benton, Sara Brians, Sae La Chin, Erin Crouch, Lianne Marie Dobbs, Michael Thomas Holmes, Drew Humphrey, Wendy James, Matthew Kirk, Tony Lawson, Alison Levenberg, Joseph Medeiros, Shannon M. O’Bryan, James Patterson, Wes Pope, Benjie Randall, Kristen J. Smith, JD Webster, and Kristen Beth Williams.

The musical, which is inspired by the MGM movie of the same name, features music by George and Ira Gershwin, with an all-new book by Ken Ludwig. It focuses on an American secretary who is sent to Paris to locate a great French singer who has failed to show up on the set of a new film musical. Ludwig previously adapted the Gershwins’ Girl Crazy into the Tony-winning musical Crazy for You. His plays include Lend Me a Tenor and Moon Over Buffalo.

The creative team includes Randy Skinner (choreography), Rob Berman (music supervision and arrangements), Douglas Schmidt (sets), Carrie F. Robbins (costumes), Paul Gallo (lighting), and Doug Besterman (orchestrations).
