Reiko Aylesworth, Mario Cantone, Danny Hoch, Rob Morrow, et al. Set for Powerhouse Play Workshops

Vassar & New York Stage and Film’s Powerhouse Theater has announced full casting for the two Inside Look play workshops offered this season.

David Solomon’s Margaret and Craig (July 1-3), directed by Sheryl Kaller, will star the previously reported Mario Cantone, along with Jeni Verdon. The piece centers on Craig Russell (Cantone), a 1970s female impersonator battling inner demons on his way to cult stardom. His quest for fame tests and transforms his relationship with the only person who truly knows him, his best friend and beloved confidant, author Margaret Gibson (Verdon). Paul Masse will provide musical direction.

Seth Zvi Rosenfeld’s Handball (July 15-17), directed by Cándido Tirado, involves a handball court earmarked to become a dog run that becomes a battlefield in a quickly gentrifying neighborhood. In addition to the previously reported Rob Morrow, who will play Christopher, the cast will include Reiko Aylesworth as Laurie, Carlton Byrd as Ra-Ra, Danny Hoch as Barry, Jeffrey Joseph as Gee, Morgan Lynch as Little Lucy, John Douglas Thompson as Panama, Felix Solis as Orlando, and Victor Rasuk as Javier.
