David Hyde Pierce to Perform at Saratoga Performing Arts Center July 29 logo

Tony Award winner David Hyde Pierce will appear with the Philadelphia Orchestra to narrate Benjamin Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra at Saratoga Performing Arts Center, in Saratoga Springs, NY, on July 29 at 8pm.

Pierce won a Tony Award for his performance in Curtains, with other Broadway credits including La Bete, Beyond Therapy, Accent on Youth, The Heidi Choronicles, and Monty Python's Spamalot. He is best known for his Emmy Award-winning work as Niles Crane on Frasier.

The event is part of SPAC's 2011 Classical Season, presented by HSBC Bank. Additional program highlights will include the opening night of The Philadelphia Orchestra with premier female maestro, Conductor Marin Alsop; soloists Yo-Yo Ma, Sarah Chang and Gabriela Montero; a Casablanca evening, featuring a screening of the film with live score performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra; New York City Ballet productions of Peter Martins' The Magic Flute, Balanchine's Jewels and the Saratoga premiere of Susan Stroman's For the Love of Duke; an evening with saxophonist and composer Branford Marsalis; and two Glee pre-shows with featured college a cappella groups, including The Princeton Tigertones.
