Tommy Tune to Receive Helen Hayes Tribute Award at April 25 Ceremony

Tommy Tune has been named the recipient of The Helen Hayes Tribute, to be presented to him at the 27th Helen Hayes Awards ceremony, held at the Warner Theatre on Monday, April 25.

Tune has won nine Tony Awards for acting, direction, and choreography. His Broadway credits include Seesaw, Nine, My One and Only, The Will Rogers Follies, and Grand Hotel. Among his other honors are the National Medal of the Arts, eight Drama Desk Awards, two Obie Awards, and two Fred Astaire Awards.

Special awards will also be given to Ford’s Theatre “History on Stage” and “History on Foot” programs, which will receive The Washington Post Award for Innovative Leadership in the Theatre Community; and Factory 449: a theatre collective and No Rules Theatre Company, with both companies receiving The John Aniello Award for Outstanding Emerging Theatre Company.

The April 25 ceremony will also present awards to the winners in the Helen Hayes Awards’ 26 competitive categories. As previously reported, nominated artists include Laurence Fishburne, John Glover, Maurice Hines, Marc Kudisch, Gavin Lee, Phylicia Rashad, and many more.
