Olney Theatre Center Announces Cast for Opus

Olney Theatre Center has announced casting for its production of Michael Hollinger’s Opus, to run June 8-July 3.

The play is about the celebrated and world-renowned Lazara String Quartet’s struggle to prepare for their high-profile White House performance. When the quartet’s gifted but volatile violist mysteriously disappears, new violist Grace steps in to replace him and finds herself mixed up in a cauldron of lies and secrets that’s about to boil over.

Artistic Director Jim Petosa directed the New England premiere of Opus at New Repertory Theatre last year, and four of that production’s five actors will reprise their roles for Olney Theatre Center’s production: Michael Kaye (Elliot – first violin), Shelley Bolman (Alan – second violin), Becky Webber (Grace – viola), and Benjamin Evett (Dorian – viola). They will be joined by Paul Morella (Carl – cello) for Olney’s production.

The creative team will include Cristina Todesco (scenic design), Kathleen Geldard (costume design), Daniel MacLean Wagner (lighting design), GW Rodriguez (sound design), and Josiane M. Lemieux (stage manager).
