Kennedy Center Announces Lineup for Page-to-Stage New Play Festival

Thirty companies from across the Washington D.C. area will take part in the John F. Kennedy Center‘s Page-to-Stage New Play Festival. The event, that includes free readings and open rehearsals of plays and musical in development, will run September 5-7.

The work presented during Page-to-Stage ranges from a presentation by Theatre J of Josh Kornbluth’s new solo show Andy Warhol: Good for the Jews? to Taffety Punk Theatre Company’s one-act excerpt of Burn Your Bookes, a three-act exploration of alchemy and its place in Renaissance politics. The event will also include a selection of short plays for children, an excerpt from a new opera, and the presentation of a new play from John Morogiello, whose Engaging Shaw will be seen at New York’s Abingdon Theatre Company in 2010.

Among the other groups participating in Page-to-Stage, AccokeekCreek Theatre Co., Active Cultures, Adventure Theatre, African Continuum Theatre Company, Artists’ Bloc, The Audible Group , Baltimore Playwrights Festival, Bouncing Ball Theatrical Productions, Charter Theater, Didactic Theatre Company, The Essential Theatre, Forum Theatre, Ganymede Arts, The Georgetown Theatre Company, Imagination Stage, The Inkwell , J.T. Burian Theatricals, Kennedy Center Theater for Young Audiences, Limelight Theatre, The Olney Theatre Center, Playwrights Forum, The Playwright’s Group of Baltimore, The Playwrights’ Gymnasium, Rorschach Theatre Company, Seventh Street Playhouse, Solas Nua/Tinderbox Theatre Company of Belfast, Synetic Theater, Theater of the First Amendment, Theatre J, theHegira, Washington Shakespeare Company, and Women’s Work Writers Group.
