Ford’s Theatre Society to Present Richard Hellesen’s One Destiny

The Ford’s Theatre Society will present Richard Hellesen one-act play One Destiny, commissioned by the organization, October 6-24. The 30-minute play is offered as part of timed entry to Ford’s Theatre and presented in addition to the National Park Service Ranger programs.

This two-character play is set shortly after the Lincoln assassination at Ford’s Theatre, and revisits the events of April 14, 1865, from the point of view of Harry Ford, one of three brothers who owned Ford’s Theatre, and the great comic actor Harry Hawk, who was performing on stage on the night of the assassination.

Entry times for performances are October 6, 7, 9, 13, 14, 16, 20, 22, 23, 24 at 10:30 a.m. and noon; and October 10 at 10:30 a.m. There will be an audio-described performance on October 17 at 10:30 a.m. The October 24 10:30 a.m. performance will be sign-interpreted. Following the performance, patrons can visit the Petersen House (where Lincoln died) across the street from Ford’s Theatre.
