Casa Mañana Announces 2008-2009 Season

Casa Mañana has announced the selections for it’s 2008-2009 “Broadway at the Bass” season, which will kick off with the national tour of Stomp (November 11-16). The eight-member troupe uses everything but conventional percussion instruments — matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters, hubcaps — to fill the stage with magnificent rhythms.

A holiday engagement of Annie will play December 23-28. Winner of 7 Tony Awards including Best Musical, the show features the classic songs “Tomorrow,” “It’s A Hard Knock Life,” “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile,” and “A New Deal For Christmas.” It will be followed by the national tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony Award winning Best Musical Cats, February 3- 8.

A Casa Mañana production of Disney’s High School Musical will play March 10-15, telling the story of Troy, the captain of the basketball team, and Gabriella, a transfer student and genius in science, as they surf the tricky tides of cliques and peer pressure to follow their dreams and score the leads in their high school musical.

The season will conclude with Alfred Uhry’s Driving Miss Daisy, April 21-26. The Pulitzer Prize winning play captures the blossoming friendship between two very unlikely people, sharp-tongued 72-year-old widow Daisy Wertham, and the thoughtful, black man, Hoke, hired as her chauffeur.
